Raouf's Rebuy Romper Room
So I'm sitting around the house Saturday morning. Wife is out of town, house is clean, laundry is done .... what to do ? .. what to do ?
I've already got my daily fill of porn, must be something fun to do today ...
Ahh yes, Raouf's Saturday rebuy tourney ! I've been concentrating more on my cash game, but what they hell, tourney's can be fun too .. especially if you set out to make them that way.
So I decide I'm playing my favorite style - DonkeyStyle(tm). So how do you play DonkeyStyle, you ask ? ... easy, talk a bunch of smack and be ready to buy-in a few times. "Hey if I suck out on you it's your F-ing fault cuzz you called me !"
So I figure I'll put a few bucks in this $60/$30/$30 unlimited rebuys, with add-on at the hour game. What the hell.
So after about 20 minutes ... Eric and I are both in for 7 rebuys, 4 of us went all in pre-flop blind on the first hand, and of course gave Raouf a monster stack ! -- Geez that sucks ! Well what the hell, you're never going to get it back if you don't keep buying back in. It's the "dollar auction" economic theory in full brutal force.
Economics professors have a standard game they use to demonstrate how apparently rational decisions can create a disastrous result. They call it a "dollar auction."
So after the rebuy period, I find myself into this $60 tournament for $420 ! .... nice, what to do now ? .... Ride that donkey all the way home. Got lucky in a few spots (which you have to do with DonkeyStyle(tm) ) and was able to get paid off on my image. Got a feel for when the real players sensed I was tightening up, used that to my advantage a few times. And of course, Brewer knocking out Raouf was key ! -- thanks Brewer :-)
Alright down to three, wohoooooo .... wait, WTF ??!?! ... top TWO pay and second is $397, ohhh crap, I have to win, damn. Ohhh cool, Jason is about to knock out Paul with AA - ohh crap Paul picked up outs on the turn, ohhhh nice river, gh Paul.
Pocket 5's in the SB, limp and wait for Jason to raise, great only about a third of my stack - I call -- KTo ..... damn race, I hate tourney's, I hate races ... whew won. Just me and Paul now, no disrepect to Paul, but I think I can beat him. Paul wants a deal, fine with me, we count the chips and I have 2-1 chip advantage so we do an equity chop.
After all that I still profit $100 after tipping the dealer. -- WOOHOOOO DonkeyStyle(tm) works ! Still would of had fun even if I lost it all, just not as much !
Can you beat DonkeyStyle ? .. come to Raouf's and try to beat me biach !

Dell XPS 730 - speaking my language - and other geekiness
When I worked at IBM, they always talked about cool ads, or ads that spoke in the language of the consumer. Of course they never had the cojones to execute.
I'm a geek and a gamer, my game of choice right now is Team Fortress 2. I'm kicking some serious 14 year old butt using my XPS 420, lots of pWnaGe ! But I'm always looking at the latest and greatest my current employer, Dell, has to offer.
So this morning I'm checking out the new XPS 730 and look what I see in the online ad .....
PWN ALL ! ... talk about speaking in the customers language. Now that is something I can understand !

Big Green Egg - First attempt - Ribs !
The guys over at Living-Vistas finished the outdoor BBQ grill last week. I was able to try out the BGE (Big Green Egg) for the first time on Sunday.
Overall, not a bad first attempt. They were edible, but not exactly what I was looking for. I talked to some of my friends, Tom (who I found out has a BGE), and Jeff (needs to get a blog) who is master at BBQ. I just need a little more refinement and I should be able to get what I'm looking for in the next 2 or 3 attempts.
Who's going to come over and help me eat all these Eggsperiments ?
Living-Vistas did a great job and completed the work ahead of schedule. I'd highly recommend them if you are in the market for outdoor patios and BBQ stuff, ask for Tim or Chris.

Quads over Quads - my sickest hand ever !
You hear about it, people talk about it, you tell yourself, "Man that never happens."
Well, here it is, my sickest poker hand in my entire career. Never thought I would see it, thankfully I was on the winning end. I led out on the flop to get a feel for where everyone was at. On the turn I thought I was golden, if anyone had an overpair I had them crushed. Had no idea I needed to hit perfect-perfect.

Why raising is usually the correct play ......
Check out this hand history. If I would have raised the flop, or the turn, all the money would have went in the middle. My read was big pair or top pair, and I was trying to make him think I was on flush draw. I didn't want flush to get there, so the river was actually a bad card for my hand. So best play would have been to get raise in and force him to protect hand. Raise on that flop could have also looked like flush draw, so best play all around.

Solera Sharks winners !
Well, we are all winners in life aren't we ?
When it got down to 4, it looked like Mary was going to make a charge for it, but then she went card dead and busted on the bubble :-(
Then it looked like Kevin and Willie were going to wait out Marc and go heads up, but Marc would have none of that. He battled from a very short stack to get enough chips to be a threat. Then Willie was out on the ropes in third. With a 60,000 chip deficit, Marc said, "Let's CHOP !", the deal was finalized and Kevin took 1st with Marc taking 2nd.
1st - Kevin H
2nd - Marc D
3rd - Willie W
Thanks to all for coming out and hope you enjoyed the burgers and kibitzing with friends. I know I did, and it was great weather for it ! See you all next month !

Burleson High School - BHS class of 88 reunion - Update #1
Here's the latest email I received. Sent your information to Lori to get on the list.
The committee is working hard to find everyone for the BHS Class of 1988 20 year reunion. I'm sending out this email hoping that the few contacts we do have can help us round up some more. Please send me any information you have about anyone from our class. We need the following:
First Name/Maiden Name/Married Name
Address/City/State/Zip
Email address (preferred)
Phone number (if no email)
I have created a Yahoo email account (lorihamm1988@yahoo.com) that you can send the information to because my work email may "block" some of you.
The reunion dates are set for July 18th & 19th if you want to go ahead and mark your calendars and plan your summer vacations.
The committee would greatly appreciate your help.

Burleson High School Class of 1988 - 20 Year High School Reunion
So I guess it's that time. I've got some pics from the 10 year laying around here somewhere. I'll try to dig them up. I pinged some people a while back on FaceBook and MySpace to see who was in charge or knew the lowdown.
Of course a simple Google search would not yield what I was looking for. I think 88 was that strange year, just on the cusp of the internet. Only us geeks really knowing what the world was headed for. Ahhhh memories, I still remember downloading a 30 second digitized clip of Madonna's "Like a Virgin", and telling my friend Roy, "Who the HELL is going to do this ?!? .... 3 HOURS to get 30 seconds of music ?!? ... I don't get it." .... such a visionary I was :-)
So let me see if I can get enough keywords in here to make my google juice really high. Probably some links back to the main BHS site would help too, but they don't have anything posted, so not going to help you there.
So if you are looking for the BHS - Burleson High School Texas 20 year high school class reunion for the people that graduated in the year 1988 or 88 or '88, as we dearly know it. You should contact Dixie Hailey Jenkins at txgirl88@aol.com - I have her phone number too, but you'll have to email me for that.
It will probably take google a couple of days to juice up the BHS - Burleson High School Texas class of 1988 20 year reunion keywords. If you link to my site, it will juice it up even higher, and quicker :-)
This is the latest response I have have from Dixie :
Hi Scott!
It looks like mid July --at the Pour House on a Friday night and a banquet hall in the Stockyards the next night. Please give out my email to everyone you have contact with and have them do the same b/c our biggest hurdle right now is getting everyone's contact info. We are meeting again at the end of the month to finalize everything.
See ya soon,
Dixie
** UPDATE ** Ohhhh Joy of Joys, since I'm a good geek I continue to adhere to a backup schedule, and all my old bits of digitized 1's and 0's just keep following me around. That means you get the joy of possibly seeing yourself in some old photos from the BHS - Burleson High School in Texas - 10 year reunion for the class of 88 !
Have fun with these ! - I think it was a .25 megapixel camera, so enjoy the graininess.
Class of 88 - Burleson High School - 10 Year Reunion Photos

** UPDATE #2 ** - Wow, I must be a trusted site or something. Google juice is very high already. Just search on "Burleson 1988 reunion" and I'm the first hit ! - or "Burleson Texas 20 year reunion" - amazing what the right keywords will get you. Ohh, I also found this site - http://burlesonhighschool.net/reunion-info.html

Read this if you ever need to fix a commercial storefront broken flush bolt
Yeah, the best part about the internets is that you can find anything you want. The worst part, you have to somewhat know what you are looking for.
In the good ol' days, you could browse the internet, remember Yahoo all broken down into categories like the yellow pages ? Man, the Internet WayBack Machine is FUN !! Remember kids, the internet can also archive the things you put on it. Just because you delete it doesn't mean it doesn't still exist out there. It is all just 1's and Zero's and somebody is backing it up.
Today it's all about Search Terms, keywords, and the like. So when you break your front door latch at your restaurant, what do you search on to find the parts ? Well after collectively searching about 3 hours, I finally came up with "storefront flush bolt". Put that in google and you'll get to MrLock, a company in the DFW metroplex who will gladly sell you the part you need.
Or you could call a local repair person for $120, or you could call a local parts place who will gladly sell it to you for $38 -- but who has to order it and WON'T give you the name of the supplier -- or order it from MrLock for $8.95.
Poker is still waiting for me - 5 down - 25 to go - stoooopid water weight :-)
